After the blinds are placed (2 mandatory bets that must be made by the 2 players to the left of the dealer) a round of betting begins. Each player is dealt 2 cards face down which are hidden from the other players (called their hole or pocket). Once this betting phase is complete 3 cards are dealt to the center of the table which everyone can use. This is called the flop. A second round of betting occurs.<\/p>\n
